Synchonicty

The word "synchronicity" as applied to this type of situation appears to have been coined by Carl Jung the famous psychologist (close friend but younger that Sigmund Freud but they had something of a split due to differences).

I'll say that it seems to be basically defined as two or more seemingly unrelated (so no known or apparent 'causal relationship' between them that we humans can see) events or situations that somehow seem to form a meaningful or noticeable relationship and seem unlikely to be mere coincidence.

I suppose the whole subject is open to opinion (since there is no 'proof' ) so "skeptics" will just dismiss it usually (unless they are "skeptics" of believing humans know everything about Reality).

I try to think of some mechanism to suggest how this type of thing could happen. One phrase I come up with is the old Alchemists and Hermetic symbolic phrase

"As above, so below"

So in this example, that simple yet ever-applicable phrase can apply to a connection between two magnification levels of viewing Reality ... an example is how a whirlpool in water can visually appear similar to a spiral galaxy. There is no direct linkage to the two 'objects' yet something within the character of Reality allows that to be manifested in different magnification levels.

Another example is the nautilus shell, the spiral of the ram's horn and other spirals through nature (mineral, plants, animals including humans) which have the interesting geometric structure called the 'Golden spiral' (based on the golden ratio.

And so one could say some of these shapes have no causal linkage (eg , nautilus shell and ram's horn) yet there is a distinct "coincidence" of shape there. And so what if there was something similar that caused events or situations (what we humans commonly refer to as events ... I don't want to discuss 'time' here) to follow some pattern that at some points became this very noticeable pattern even to us humans (who may normally not be able to be aware of so many more patterns happening all around us ... they may be too "faint")

A related example to this subject is the interesting experiment scientists did a long while ago where they had two twin particles (I'm rusty on the details... but I assume the particles shared a common origin or were formed from the same situation of splitting another particle) and then they affected just one of the particles, the other particle automatically went through the same changes.

And so I have heard stories of twins where one suddenly felt not very well and later it was learned the other twin had an accident or problem (so on another magnification level , perhaps this is somehow similar to the idea about the subatomic particles having some unknown connection)

Perhaps there is some characteristic of Reality at all sorts of magnification levels that is expressed as seemingly unrelated situations from the limited human ability to see things (humans historically have thought of ourselves as the peak of intellect ... but isn't this an assumption as we sit here on this tiny dust particle of a planet in comparison to the giant ocean of the Universe), but nonetheless get projected into the level of Reality we can see and the result seems like a puzzling 'coincidence' that just seems too unbelievable to be a coincidence.

I imagine science would have a very tough time ... it is too complex (too many variables involved to allow any accuracy of modeling it). -----------

I am reminded of some recent news of astrophysicists suggesting different particles (or was it 'strings' or whatever they were talking about) were connected over huge numbers of light years of distance.

Anyway, my thoughts on the subject.

I like the simplicity of your pieces. Your work is very instinctual and primitive making it an interesting view to life. Thank you like many others for challenging my views of art and the world around us, that is what truly makes us artists.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
