an acrylic I did today and uploaded to ebay.

This painting shows many symbolic elements. The cat could symbolize our animalistic base level while the egg above symbolizes a new change, growth or birth into a new level.

Above the cat and egg I have a house which can represent the person. The three windows symbolize the basic 'spiritual' regions of the body with the top one being round (perhaps referring to the brow and crown chakra zones).

On either side of the house are two trees with a crow in each. In one , the crow is looking towards the central process (ie, the cat, egg, three windows and upwards) while the other crow is looking away. This is similar to how old paintings of the Crucifixion of Christ always had one of the thieves turning away and one looking at him. I read a Rosicrucian lecture saying how this actually could symbolically represent the two sides of the Kabbala on either side of the central pillar.

To me, it is all symbolism of something underneath the story and so although I am not a Christian, I investigate these symbolisms which I feel have similarities to a sort of ascension through the spiritual centres similar to the chakras of India.

And so this brings me to the dove flying upwards from the peak of the roof towards the Moon.

Additionally, the tree on the left I have branch off into two which branch off into many other stems and twigs from there. This could be a symbol of the dualism with Reality we see at our usual interaction with Reality (opposing aspects, decisions between opposing things, etc). The tree on the right has one branch turning into a spiral. I often draw such shapes without any meaning but in this one, I meant it to symbolize the appearance of time that spirals inward and inward.


Actually the two trees themselves are the start of duality. Above the primal instincts of the cat, after exposure to the egg, the next stage could be a choice between one tree of the other.

That's basically what we are mostly doing almost all day regarding various things in normal human life.

Whereas the mystics go through the central route and hopefully eventually can ascend the chakras and fly up like the dove to the Moon (symbolically speaking - so the 'mystical experience' of feeling totally connected to all of the Universe and feeling the combining of all sides of duality so you feel beyond the pull of those things).


But feel free also to see your own new things in it. Just because in this painting I purposefully added certain symbolic content doesn't mean it is stuck just to that viewing of it.
